Declaration of Statement of MRSA Screening for All Elective and Non-elective Admissions of Patients

March 2011

 

  • The Department of Health required all NHS Trusts to undertake a review of their MRSA screening policies. Trusts were requested to develop and implement an MRSA screening programme for elective admissions by 31 March 2009 and for emergency admissions by 31 December 2010.

  • The aim of the Department of Health strategy is to reduce MRSA infection through screening patients.

  • The Mid Essex NHS Trust has complied with the implementation of a programme for the screening of elective and emergency admissions.

  • Systems and policies are in place and the Trust Board is committed to the Infection Prevention agenda. Ongoing assurance is provided via the Director of Infection Prevention and Control report to the Trust Board.
