The Trust has fully adopted the Department of Health framework for equality and diversity planning. We have augmented the goals and outcomes of EDS to align with existing and planned Trust activity. As such, the document therefore acts as both a reporting framework and as an action-planning tool.
In January 2012, the Trust held a meeting with local interests at the PCT building in central Chelmsford. This meeting, shared with the PCT and a neighbouring NHS trust, enabled us to get some degree of early evaluation and grading of EDS at this Trust. This meeting itself followed an earlier gathering in September 2011.
In early 2012, we are building on the local interests’ evaluation and applying a good degree of rigour to self-assessment, gap analysis and action planning around the EDS framework.
