Mid Essex Hospital Services NHS Trust welcomes the opportunity to become a NHS Foundation Trust (FT) by autumn 2012. This is great news for the Trust, our staff, patients and local people as achieving FT status will allow us to work closer with our local community and for the people we serve to have a greater say in the things we do. That’s why we are approaching local people and staff to seek their views about how the Trust will be run, or governed, and our plans for the future.
We believe that by working together with our patients, staff, members of the public, and partner organisations we can continue to improve and deliver a quality, safe and innovative range of healthcare services. Becoming a FT will enable the organisation to build on past successes and unlock its full potential to be one of the best healthcare providers in the country.
We want to ensure that we actively seek the involvement of a wide range of key stakeholders in the development of our future plans and one way you can get involved is by becoming a member of the Foundation Trust. As a member you will be kept fully up to date with the latest developments at the Trust and will also have the opportunity to influence and shape the future of your hospital over the years to come.
Our members will elect representatives to sit on our Council of Governors. Therefore, it is really important that we have the input of local people, patients and our staff, which is the purpose of our consultation document. In particular, section 6.0 sets out our future plans and section 7.0 onwards describes the changes we plan to make to the way the hospital is run or governed.
The consultation period lasts for 12 weeks (from February 2011 to May 2011). We will then collate and analyse all of the comments and suggestions and include them in our application. A questionnaire and membership form is available to download, as well as the consultation document. Please take the time to complete them and return to us via freepost.
