Mid Essex Hospitals NHS Trust today announces that Paul Forden, CEO, will be seconded to an NHS national programme

Paul joined the Trust in September 2013 and during his two years at Mid Essex has led the Trust during a period of change within the NHS and for the community we serve.  Paul has provided strategic leadership for the organisation delivering improvements across the service including, the addition of Braintree Community Hospital services to MEHT, providing care closer to home for Essex patients,  the opening of a new Surgical Emergency Ward to support the required improvements to emergency care, the opening of a new day surgery unit improving patient experience and the opening of the newly located Eye Clinic enhancing accessibility to services for ophthalmology patients. Paul has led a number of initiatives to reduce patients length of stay including a review and reorganisation of many ward areas to improve patients flow across our hospitals.  He has also worked to develop closer working relationship with hospitals across Essex to improve patient care.

Professor Sheila Salmon, Chair of Mid Essex Hospitals stated, "On behalf of the Board I wish to thank Paul for his contribution whilst at Mid Essex Hospitals and recognise Paul's commitment to patient safety, quality care and patient experience. We wish Paul well for the future."

Paul will be taking on a new role working on strategic projects for the Trust Development Authority.

Cathy Geddes, Chief Nursing Officer will assume the role of Acting Chief Executive
