Hospital support staff pass with flying colours

Almost 200 portering and cleaning staff have passed their National Vocational Awards (NVQ's) whilst working at Broomfield or St John’s hospitals.

Recently the fifth group of 29 members of staff completed the course to gain NVQ awards in cleaning and support services, team leading or portering.  They all studied for the course in their own time with support from a tutor from Otley College.

Andy Wright, hotel services manager at mid Essex hospitals, said:” This is a great achievement for all of these staff and they should all be very proud of what they have achieved. They have all shown real dedication as they have studied for the qualification in addition to doing the ‘day job’.

"Good patient care and hospital cleanliness are top priorities for the Trust, so having properly trained and qualified staff in all areas means we can all work to the highest standards to ensure we deliver this."
