New Diagnostic Centre is Officially Open
The new diagnostic centre at St Peter’s hospital in Maldon was officially opened today by the Mayor of Maldon, Councilor John Almond.
The new centre means that patients in Maldon can now receive all of their diagnostic tests under one roof in a newly refurbished department. The centre houses X-ray, Phlebotomy (blood testing) and ultrasound. All of the facilities have been improved and new ultrasound and X-ray equipment has been installed.
Richard Hammond, general manager for diagnostics at mid Essex hospitals, said:
” We are delighted that we have a new diagnostic centre at St Peter’s; it is a real asset for the people of Maldon. It not only offers modern facilities but also makes use of all of the latest technology, both in booking appointments and getting results.”
Patients can book their diagnostic appointment at the centre using the electronic choose and book system. This means that the patient can leave their GP surgery knowing when and where they will have their appointment rather than having to wait for one to be sent.
Richard adds:” The X-ray equipment at St Peter’s is linked to our electronic Picture Archiving and Communications system (PACS) which means that the results of the X-rays can be viewed electronically by the clinicians rather than having to wait for them to be printed on film. This means that results can be communicated back to the patient quicker which speeds up the diagnostic process.”
