Press Release

16 September 2008

Have your say on the new name for your local Hospital Trust

Now is your chance to play an important part in the future of Mid Essex Hospital Services NHS Trust, who run Broomfield and St John’s Hospitals in Chelmsford, by helping us to decide on a new name.

The Trust is due to become a Foundation Trust in 2009 which means that it will move away from central control so it can be more responsive to the needs and wishes of the local people.

Ruth May, chief executive of Mid Essex Hospitals, said:” This is a very exciting time for the Trust, and local people, as we move towards becoming a Foundation Trust (FT). As part our transition towards becoming an FT we want to choose a new name that effectively represents what we stand for and where we see ourselves now and moving forwards. We would like all of the people who have an interest in the Trust to help us do this by voting for their preferred name.

“We also need local people to become members of the Foundation Trust and become actively involved with the running of the Hospitals over the next 20 years.”

The three proposed Trust names are:

  1. Mid Essex NHS Foundation Trust

  2. Chelmsford and Essex NHS Foundation Trust

  3. Heart of Essex NHS Foundation Trust

To vote for the new name for the Trust please Click Here, you have until Friday 3 October 2008 to vote.  There is also more information on the web-site about becoming a member of the FT.
