St Peter's Maternity Unit throws open its doors
ST PETER’S maternity unit in Maldon is throwing open its doors between 10am and 2pm on Saturday 27 September to give people the chance to find out more about the services it provides for mums and babies.
The midwife led birthing unit at St Peter’s hospital provides antenatal care, consultant clinics, delivery and postnatal care in a ‘home from home’ environment. The facilities include seven postnatal beds, two labour and delivery rooms, one day assessment room and a birthing pool.
Wendy Fee, midwife, said:” We hold an open day annually to give people the opportunity to have a look round the facilities that we have at St Peter’s. The birthing centre was completely refurbished two years ago which means we have new bathroom facilities, a new patient sitting room and upgraded wards. It really provides a homely birthing experience for women with a low risk pregnancy and we want to encourage more people to use the facilities. We also provide an antenatal service that is open to all women.”
