New trees take root at Broomfield Hospital
National tree week took root at Broomfield recently with the planting of 300 new trees in the hospital grounds.
The tree planting was kicked off by Graham Ramsay, Chief Executive of Mid Essex Hospitals, and Cllr Tony Sach, Mayor of Chelmsford. They were ably assisted by volunteers from 'V' involved and the children of Melbourne Park Primary School.
Graham Ramsay, said ” I am delighted that we were able to mark national tree week by planting these new tress to enhance our woodlands at Broomfield Hospital. It made the event even more special as we were joined by the Mayor of Chelmsford, volunteers and local school children.”
The Trust, that runs Broomfield hospital, have developed a woodland project to manage two woodland areas in the grounds of the hospital in Chelmsford. This project is part of a planning obligation in relation to the new hospital development. Graham adds:” I am pleased that we are developing the woodland space at Broomfield Hospital, as this will be a real asset to those people using the hospital, our staff and local residents.”
As part of the woodland project the Trust has had the woodland areas professionally surveyed to improve access, encourage wildlife and make the woodlands a more inviting place for staff, patients, visitors and local residents.
