Birthday bash boosts charitable fund
Broomfield Hospital patient, Gordon Tokley, had twice the reason to celebrate when he used his 80th birthday celebrations to raise funds for the stoma care team.
Mr Tokley invited his friends and family to celebrate in style at an evening dinner dance, but instead of gifts he simply asked his guests to make a small donation to the stoma care charitable fund, knowing every little counts.
Thanks to their generosity he has been able to present the team with a donation of nearly £300, enabling them to further enhance the services they can offer to patients by contributing towards updated medical equipment and providing additional amenities for the department.
Mr Tokley said, “I have been cared for so well by the team here, so this was a chance for me to say thank you for everything they have done. We all had a great night, and I’m really pleased that I was able to use my birthday celebrations to make a difference to the hospital.”
