Hospital Breast Care Unit in the Pink!
Two members of staff from Mid Essex Hospitals raised over £2600 for the Breast Care Unit by organising a ‘pink party’.
Linda Hopkins, a former breast care patient and orthopaedic secretary and Sharon Trent, fracture clinic staff nurse, organised the pink party to thank the medical team in the breast care unit for the marvellous work that they do. Linda said: “From my own experience I know just how important it is to support our dedicated staff and this donation is my way of repaying them. The Pink Party was Sharon’s idea and she put a huge amount of work into making sure we all had a good time. With the amount of raffle prizes we received, it enabled everyone to be a winner on the night. I’d like to thank Sharon and everyone involved for their help and support which made this event such an amazing success”.
In accepting this donation, Mr Reggie Inwang, consultant breast surgeon said: “I know my colleagues from the unit will want to join me in saying thank you to Linda and Sharon for making this donation to our charity. This significant amount will enable us to buy medical equipment to enhance the treatment we provide to patients with breast cancer. With our planned move to Broomfield Hospital next year, this generous donation will help us enormously."
