Learn more about infection prevention at Broomfield Hospital on  ‘clean your hands’ day – 5 May

As part of the ‘clean your hands’ campaign Broomfield Hospital will be taking part in a national awareness day on Wednesday 5 May 2010.

Between 10am and 2pm on Wednesday 5 May the trust’s infection prevention team will be in the Broomfield Hospital restaurant to provide staff, patients and visitors with information about what the trust is doing in the fight against healthcare acquired infections.  They will also be seeking views on some new products, such as an automatic hand gel dispenser.

Chris Craven, from the trust’s infection prevention team, said:” We wanted to take the opportunity to share with people all of the good work that the trust does on infection prevention.  We continue to be one of the best performing trusts in the East of England for MRSA and Clostridium.difficile, and this is because of all of the good work that takes place here.”

The ‘SAVE LIVES: Clean Your Hands’ day is part of a major global effort led by the World Health Organisation (WHO), to support health-care workers to improve hand hygiene and thus stop the spread of life-threatening, health care-associated infection (HCAI).

Chris adds:” During the day there will be the chance to talk to the infection prevention team, find out more about trust polices and look at some of the latest initiatives.”
