Hospital Trust CEO links up with ARU
Graham Ramsay, Chief Executive of Mid Essex Hospitals, has been appointed as a Visiting Professor at Anglia Ruskin University’s Faculty of Health and Social Care.
Graham, who was appointed to his position at Mid Essex Hospitals in September 2009, has just taken up the post of Visiting Professor of Research. Previously he was the Medical Director and Deputy Chief Executive at West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust since May 2006. Within his portfolio, he was also Director of Patient Safety and Director of Infection Prevention and Control.
Prior to this Professor Ramsay was Executive Director to a group of three hospitals in South Netherlands. He holds an MBChB (Bachelor of Surgery) and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons. His previous work and research activity has seen his involvement with Ischemia reperfusion injury, the Prediction of sepsis and Multiple Organ Failure in patients admitted to ICU, and ICU infections.
Talking about this key position, Professor Ramsay said: ‘This new role will allow Mid Essex Hospitals to continue its long-standing relationship with Anglia Ruskin University. It is my aim to stimulate more academic links between the Trust focusing particularly on clinical research and healthcare outcomes. As part of a new Health Innovation and Education Cluster (HIEC) within the NHS, and with this new direct link we will ensure that we will always be working towards the provision of new and innovative healthcare services in the future by strengthening the co-ordination of education and training.’
