Hospital’s A&E department sees increased numbers
The public are being asked to only attend Broomfield Hospital’s A&E department if they are seriously ill or need emergency treatment as the department is under severe pressure at present.
John Tobin, Divisional Manager for Emergency Care at Mid Essex Hospitals, said:” We are currently experiencing a very high demand for our services so we are advising people with minor ailments to visit their GP, the local NHS Walk-In Centre at Springfield or to get advice from NHS direct on 0845 4647, wherever possible, rather than visiting our A&E Department.
We are coping with our emergency patients, but if people attend as a non emergency they are jeopardising the care we can give to the people who really need it."
