Brides revisited
A totally different wedding event was held on Saturday 2nd October at The Rivenhall Hotel in Witham with guests squeezing back into their wedding attire for an evening of fundraising for the children’s ward at St. John’s Hospital in Chelmsford and Cancer Research UK.
The ‘Wear your Wedding Dress Again’ charity party was organised by the hotel’s sales & marketing manager, Tanya Griffiths, who said: “Brides have a gorgeous gown for this monumental day, but what happens to that gown once the day is over? Our guests thoroughly enjoyed wearing their outfits all over again. As well as blushing brides, there were grooms, bridesmaids and ushers and of course a variety of wedding guests! It's been a lot of fun and we have been overwhelmed by the generosity of everyone who has helped us raise over £1200 for these two very good causes”.
Dr Mahesh Babu, paediatric consultant at St John’s hospital and his wife joined guests to explain how the money will be used to help children on the ward, and also said: “This is an absolutely fantastic evening and we are extremely grateful to everyone for making this extraordinary event such a success. It is amazing to see so many brides in the same room!”
