Young patients at Broomfield Hospital benefit from M&Gs generosity
Young patients at Broomfield Hospital will benefit from a brand new ultrasound scanner that has been bought thanks to a massive donation of £33,000 from M&G Investments.
Dr Mahesh Babu, paediatric consultant at Broomfield hospital, said: “We are immensely grateful to M&G for this extraordinarily generous donation to buy an up-to-date scanner. It’s incredibly compact and portable so we move it around the children’s services to where it’s needed most. The much improved on-screen display has a positive impact on the care we can provide to our younger patients".
Hospital staff welcomed Anna Emtage, M&G charity & community relations manager to explain how this equipment is also making a real difference to children and babies with heart problems. Anna told staff that M&G had been pleased to help as so many of their staff live in and around the Chelmsford area and Broomfield is their local hospital.
Jacqui Banks, senior sister at Broomfield Hospital said: “Many young patients are referred directly to us from their doctor or our A&E department, but we also hold clinics with consultants from The Brompton. It means that families don’t have the expense and the long day of travelling to London, and with the extra funds provided by M&G to refurbish the department with stickers and toys, children can have treatment and heart scans in a child friendly environment”.
