Mid Essex Hospital Trust’s commitment to security is recognised
The Mid Essex Hospital NHS Trust has picked up a nationally recognised accreditation from Essex Police that demonstrates the high priority that is placed on the security of staff and patients.
The Community Safety Accreditation Scheme (CSAS) is a awarded by the Chief Constable of Essex Police following a rigorous vetting and interview procedure
Matt Bushell, director of business development and performance and security management director said: “This is a great achievement for the trust as it demonstrates that we are an organisation who is keen to improve crime on site and promote a positive security culture and reduce the risk of violence from known offenders towards staff. “
In addition to the trust receiving accreditation, Leanne Wilson, health; safety and security manager, has successfully completed the programme for individual accreditation and will now lead on working in partnership with Essex Police to reduce crime and improve the security awareness and culture on site and will represent Broomfield Hospital within the local community.
Matt adds; “I would like to congratulate Leanne on her individual achievement. It is a great asset to the trust to have Leanne accredited to the scheme. She now has the powers to tackle anti-social behaviour and petty crime.”
The idea is that public, private and voluntary sector organisations whose staff contribute to community safety will be given the tools to make them more effective in their efforts to reduce crime and disorder. Accredited staff are authorised to exercise powers appropriate to their roles, including issuing penalty notices for knowingly raising a false alarm with the fire brigade, consuming alcohol in a public place and acting in a way likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress.
