PLEASE THINK BEFORE YOU VISIT HOSPTIAL

Visitors are being asked to think before they visit friends or relatives in Broomfield hospital if they have been unwell with diarrhoea and vomiting.

Grant Crawshaw, deputy director of infection prevention at Mid Essex Hospitals, said:”We know that this virus was brought into the hospital from the community so we are asking people to help us by not visiting if they are unwell with diarrhoea and vomiting or until they have been symptom free for at least 48 hours.  People should also stay away if they have been in contact recently with anyone that has the virus.  Our main objective is to try and prevent infections being brought into the hospital and we need the publics’ help to do this.”

The Hospital currently has four wards closed to new admissions due to a number of patients suffering from diarrhoea and vomiting.  This situation is being reviewed on a daily basis.

People are also asked to think before attending A&E, as this department is very busy due to an excessively high number of patients being admitted.

For further advice, please contact your GP or NHS Direct.
