Audiology Services in Mid Essex

Welcome to the Audiology Department – here is some information about the type of services we provide which we hope you will find useful. 

The Adult Audiology service provides a range of comprehensive audiological tests including diagnostic hearing assessments and hearing therapy.  Since April 2004 all patients are fitted with digital hearing aids.

The Children’s Audiology service provides a neonatal screening service, diagnostic assessment of hearing function on all babies and children until the age of 16, with intensive rehabilitation for babies and children requiring hearing aids. 

With the introduction of National Neonatal screening programme in January 2004, all new born babies receive hearing screening which has led the way forward in the care for babies identified with a permanent hearing loss.

Location

The Audiology Department is based at Outpatients 101, Level 1, Broomfield Hospital, Court Road, Broomfield Chelmsford Essex CM1 7ET. Audiology runs alongside the Ear, Nose & Throat (ENT) Department currently covering two hospitals within the Trust including satellite clinics held at St Peters Hospital in Maldon and Broomfield Hospital.

We have moved from St Johns to Broomfield Hospital.  As a result, there are some important changes to some of the services we offer.
 
The walk-in open repair clinics have become an APPOINTMENT ONLY service. This means that if your hearing aid needs to be repaired or checked, please call us on 01245 513900 to make an appointment.

Paediatric Audiology Service

We now have a dedicated paediatric phone line which is ONLY for children/parents and young adults who are still in full time education.

The Battery Replacement service will also be unavailable at Broomfield.  You will be able to collect batteries from the following Clinics:
