Our staff work very hard to reduce the risks of passing on infections to patients and visitors can do their bit to help cut the spread of infections by following a few simple rules:
-
If you are unwell and have an illness such as flu, heavy cold, diarrhoea or vomiting, please do not visit the hospital unless it is absolutely necessary. If you are unsure telephone and check with the person in charge before you visit
-
Clean your hands with the alcohol gel before you enter and when you leave the ward
-
Do not put your feet on the patient’s bed
-
If the patient you are visiting is in a single room, check with the nursing staff before entering if it ok to go in
-
Check how many visitors are allowed at one time
-
Check with the nursing staff about any food or other items you may want to bring in to hospital
-
Limit the amount of presents, food and books which can cause clutter and make cleaning bed spaces difficult
If you have any concerns or queries about cleanliness contact the nurse in charge or ask to speak to an Infection Control Nurse
