Accessing Maternity Care
Following your positive pregnancy test you can now contact your Midwife directly by telephoning: For Braintree Midwives - 01376 560010 or please click here to contact a Midwife (under 'contact Community Midwives' in the right hand column), put your answers to the questions on the email and send to the midwives, they will contact you to arrange your booking.
Maternity care is based on a system that focuses on women and their family, informed by your needs. All women in our care have access to primary maternity care services, which provide the basis for referral to other levels of maternity service. Across all levels of care, midwives, obstetricians and GPs work together to ensure all women have access to, and experience safe, satisfying maternity care.
WJC have introduced postnatal clinics within the Birthing Unit. All healthy mothers and babies will be visited once at home following their discharge from hospital.
Thereafter they will be invited to attend appointments at WJC Birthing Unit in order for the midwife to undertake their postnatal care.
We hope that this will provide an improved service to women and their families.
