An incident and high risk type 1 diabetes research cohort – After diagnosis Diabetes Research Support System-2 (ADDRESS-2)

Study area: Diabetes

Aim: Genetic and observational trial to further understanding of the development and progression of type 1 diabetes and to establish a resource to facilitate type 1diabetes research.

Who can participate: Newly diagnosed type 1 diabetics (within the first 6 months of diagnosis) and or participant’s siblings who do not have diabetes, who are willing to be contacted about future diabetes research?

Diabetes Alliance for Research in England (DARE)

Study area: Diabetes

Aim: To establish an epidemiologically based sample of all patients with diabetes.  By collecting the same non-invasive samples as per clinical care we will be able to perform tests to look for markers of the complications  of diabetes.  DNA blood samples will be taken from consenting adults and molecular and genetic information will be combined with clinical  information to provide a resource to look for gene/environment interaction in the development of type 1, type 2 and other forms of diabetes and their associated complications – aim to recruit 60,000 patients by July 2017.

Who can participate: All diabetics, type 1, type2, gestational, diet controlled
