Staff Benefits

Like the rest of our benefits, all our pay and leave structures for different groups of staff are in line with national guidelines and policy. If you are applying for a non-medical post, you will hear the term 'Agenda for Change', which was the pay and conditions structure introduced in 2004.

MEHT Staff Bank

The Staff Bank at MEHT is operated by Bank Partners, part of the Independent Clinical Services group, a private company which also owns agencies such as Pulse and Thornbury. We run a total of 6 staff banks in the South of England, and each one is run by a dedicated team which, for Mid Essex, are all based in Broomfield Hospital. We now run the staffing banks for nursing, healthcare assistants, allied health and scientific staff, as well as non-medical and non-clinical.

Volunteers

We are looking for people to volunteer on our wards as Mealtime Companions. Mealtime Companions support patients at busy mealtimes with encouragement to eat, assistance with feeding & drinking and having a chat. 

If you are interested in making a difference to someone's stay in hospital as a Mealtime Companion or would like to discuss other volunteer roles, please contact us.

Work Experience

Mid Essex Hospitals NHS Trust is committed to offering work experience placements. This provides an opportunity for students to explore possible careers within the NHS and find out more about the working environment.

Warner Library

The Warner Library is a multidisciplinary library which supports all NHS and Social Care staff as well as students on placement in Mid Essex. We are located behind the Medical Academic Unit. Please come and visit and see how we can help you with your information needs.

Occupational Health

The Mid Essex Occupational Health Department is committed to providing high quality effective occupational health services to prevent ill health in the workplace to all Trust staff and, as a registered member of NHS Plus to commercial organisations.

Staff Side Unions

The Joint Consultative Negotiation Committee - Staff Side
 is set up jointly by the Trust Management and the Staff Side organisation. The Committee is the forum for negotiation and consultation with the Trust and recognised Unions.  The JCNC seeks to influence decision making through consultation and communication with staff through their elected representatives.
