Joint Consultative Negotiation Committee - Staff Side

The above is commonly known as the JCNC and is responsible, amongst many other things, for negotiating your Terms and Conditions. It is made up of the 11 Trade Unions and Professional Organisations that are recognised by the Trust. The Committee are elected members from each of the aforementioned organisations that are listed below. There is a number of sub-committees set aside from this committee and although not exhaustive a few are set out below:

• Health and Safety,

• Policy Group,

• Transport Action Group,

• Agenda for Change,

• Estates and Facilities,

• Private Finance Initiative Group,

• Nursing group etc.

Our role is to represent the workforce wherever possible as a joint committee working in partnership, although this does not stop individual organisations dealing with issues on their own. We are there to support each other as and when the need arises. We meet as a group every six weeks to discuss issues that may affect our staff. We also meet Trust Management every six weeks to discuss any issues from both sides and try to work in partnership wherever possible. We have developed a very good working relationship between the Trust Management team and ourselves and have an open approach to both sides.

Each organisation has staff representatives / shop stewards around the site who look after the interests of their members. The Trust supports the right of individuals to belong to a Trade Union/Professional Organisation and we recommend to all members of staff to give this serious consideration for your own protection. You never know when you may require advice, guidance or even representation during your working life and we are there to help our members.
