Volunteering
Please find below a list of external voluntary organisations working in collaboration with the Trust and their corresponding areas:
WRVS
These volunteers run the Outpatient Coffee shop, Monday – Friday. Their tea, coffee and friendly faces can make all the difference to our patients while they wait.
For more information contact Christine Harrison on 01245 601822.
Hospital Radio
Entertainment is the name of the game for these volunteers! You start by collecting radio requests from patients on the wards and can, after suitable training, help with the radio shows.
Please contact 01245 516450 for more information.
League of Friends
Shop:
Volunteers run refreshment trolleys and shops to help raise funds both in and outside the hospital. These funds go toward aids and comforts for our patients.
To get involved at Broomfield Hospital, please contact Jenny and Barbara from the League of Friends on 0844 822 0002. Or for St John’s Hospital, contact Gloria on 0844 822 0002.
Library:
Volunteers provide a mobile trolley service to the wards two afternoons each week, and take donated magazines to waiting room areas.
If you are interested in joining this dedicated team, please call the League of Friends on 0844 822 0002.
All of the above organisations are required to register any volunteers recruited
with Voluntary Services at Mid Essex Hospitals, as per Trust Policy.
Fundraisers
Fundraisers can use their initiative and imagination to support the charitable funds of the Trust.
If you are interested in raising money for these good causes, please contact the Charities Office on 01245 514559.
