Charity Trustees: training and guidance is available at:

Registered Charity No: 1048542.

Mid Essex Hospitals Charity supports the health services provided by the Mid Essex Hospital Services NHS Trust in Chelmsford, Braintree and Maldon.

Our charity gifts state-of-the-art medical equipment and supports initiatives that would not be funded by government, and we help raise money to improve the wellbeing and hospital experience for over 380,000 people who live in this area and beyond.

For many people who wish to say thank you for the care and treatment they receive, our charity allows them to support individual wards and departments.

We also have well-established links with local businesses and other charitable organisations, and run fundraising events for the public throughout the year to raise extra funds.

In 2018 our charity funded a variety of projects including our Robotic Surgery Appeal, the creation of dementia gardens and the children’s ward outdoor play area at Broomfield Hospital, and our Out to Africa project enables members of staff to provide much-needed training and share medical practices with doctors and nurses in Zambia.

Children's Burns Club

The club offers support to young burn survivors and their families to help them come to terms with burn trauma and altered body image.

We organise fun activities including residential camps, days out, workshops, parties and encourage the benefits of peer support amongst members.

The Out to Africa charitable project was initiated by Consultant Vascular Surgeon, Tom Browne and the overall aim is to link as many people and departments within Mid Essex Hospital Services NHS Trust, with their peers at the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) in Lusaka, Zambia.
