This Christmas at Broomfield there is a full calendar of festive fun.
On Saturday 7 December we are holding our first ever Christmas present drop. Our elves will be in the atrium from 10am to receive donations and at midday will be joined by over 50 motorcycling Santas from the Dengie and South Essex Bikers. At 2pm the brilliant Funky Voices choir will be in the atrium to keep everyone entertained with renditions of Christmas classics.
On Tuesday 10 December, the chaplaincy team will be out on the wards singing carols and at 3.30pm the annual Christmas tree blessing will take place in the atrium. Essex CCC’s double-winning cricketers will also be visiting the hospital at lunchtime with their County Championship and T20 Blast silverware.
Friday 13 December is Christmas Jumper Day. All non-clinical staff are welcome to done their finest fair isle sweaters in exchange for a donation to the hospital’s Children’s Burns Club and Save the Children.
The following week, the Out to Africa team will be in the atrium on Wednesday 18 December holding a Christmas craft sale – the perfect place to pick up some handmade gifts for your loved ones’ Christmas stockings.
On Thursday 19 December, we have two musical treats in the atrium. At 12.30pm, the Charm music group will be performing, followed at 2pm by Maldon’s hand bell ringers.
The Friends at Broomfield are judging the prestigious Christmas decorations competition on Friday 20 December and this year they will be accompanied by a youth choir as they decide which ward or department will follow in the footsteps of Adult Burns to be crowned best dressed.
The festivities conclude on Christmas Eve as the Salvation Army join us in the atrium to sing carols.
