Leaving a legacy to the hospital is a wonderful way to say thank you.
Every year, we receive donations from former patients and their families who want to show their appreciation for the care that they or their loved ones have received.
The money or gifts we are bequeathed are used to purchase equipment, improve the hospital environment and fund research and projects that fall outside of NHS budgets. They are a vital source of income for our work.
Legacy gifts have helped to fund our surgical robot, bought display models to aid staff training, upgraded our gardens and bought artwork to brighten waiting areas and corridors.
If you are thinking of leaving a gift in your will, there are three ways to donate:
A residuary gift
This is a gift of all or part of the value of your estate, once all your other commitments have been settled.
A pecuniary gift
This is a gift of a specific sum of money (e.g. £1,000). You may wish to protect this gift against the effects of inflation by asking your solicitor to ensure that it is index linked.
A specific gift (of an object)
If you are thinking of leaving an object to Broomfield Hospital in your will, please speak to a member of the charity team so that our staff can advise whether we will be able to accept the gift.
If you would like to get in touch, please contact the Charity Manager, Yvonne Carter on firstname.lastname@example.org or 01245 514559. All legacy enquiries are treated in strict confidence.
You can find more information about how to leave a legacy in our downloadable legacy brochure at www.meht.nhs.uk/charity/ways-to-say-thank-you.
