Mid Essex Hospitals Charity raised £200 on Valentine’s Day by holding a chocolate tombola in the atrium.
46 tubs of Celebrations, Roses and Quality Street were up for grabs with staff and members of the public paying a pound for a chance to win a chocolatey treat.
The money raised will go to the Intensive Care unit, and ICU nurses Emma Mulcahy and Jo Eves were on hand to raise awareness about the dangers of sepsis.
Charlotte Jefcoate, fundraising coordinator, said: “It was great to have so many people donate and all the chocolates went within three hours. All the delicious donations will benefits staff and patients in ICU and everyone who won loved their prizes!”
One happy member of the public said: “My husband always buys me non-edible gifts like flowers on Valentine’s Day - I don’t even like flowers. Spending a quid and winning a tub of Celebrations makes this my favourite Valentine’s Day ever. I’m going to sit in my car and eat the lot.”
