The Trust offers a range of facilities from shops and restaurants to patient entertainment systems.

Roundhouse Coffee Shop, E121: St Andrew’s OPD waiting area

Friends of Broomfield

Shop 1, South Entrance 

  • Monday to Friday, 9am - 4pm 


Shop 2, End of Atrium, adjacent to A111 

  • Monday to Friday, 9am - 4pm 
  • Both shops are closed Weekends & Bank Holidays

  • The Friends also run a trolley service which can be encountered on most routes throughout the hospital.


M&S Simply Food, Mid Atrium

  • Monday to Friday, 7.30am - 8pm 
  • Saturday, 8.30am - 8pm 
  • Sunday, 10am - 8pm 
  • Closed 25th – 26th December and 1st January


WH Smith, Mid Atrium 

  • Monday to Friday, 6.30am - 8pm 
  • Saturday & Sunday, 8am - 18:00 
  • Closed 25th – 26th December and 1st January



  • Zone A, Central Corridor, level 2 - A&E department waiting room and Felsted Ward (A205), level 3 - Near Terling Ward (A305), 
  • Zone C, level 2 - lift lobby. 
  • Zone E, level 1 - lift lobby and level 2 - lift lobby.



We have areas across the site that allow you to sit, rest and eat during your visit which are the Wellbeing Terrace, Main Entrance Courtyard and at the end of the Atrium.


Pharmacy, Front of Atrium

  • Monday to Friday, 09:00 – 18:00
  • Closed Saturdays, Sundays and Bank holidays 


Cashiers - The cashiers are located in the atrium, Zone A near the Main Reception desk. Cashiers can assist in providing change, dealing with enquiries regarding parking, travel costs and reimbursements.

  • Monday to Friday, 8:30 - 4:30


Change Machines - located at:  

Zone A, at the Cashiers, level 3 near Terling Ward (A305), level 4 near the Maternity waiting area (A404) and in the Neo Natal unit (A406). 

Cash Machines (ATM)  – located at:

  • Zone A, level 1, Atrium - inside WH Smith (free of charge)
  • Zone B, level 2, South Entrance  – opposite Reception desk (£1.85 charge applied)
  • Zone E, level 1 (lift lobby) (£1.99 charge)



Post Box - There is a Royal Mail post box located outside M&S Simply Food in the Atrium, Zone A.


Public Payphones - located at:

  • Zone B, south entrance, opposite lifts
  • Zone A, level 1 (Central Corridor) - opposite the Travel Centre



Hospedia is a service available to Patients throughout the hospital, offering Free radio and a variety of TV Packages which include free outbound calls to 01,02 and 03 numbers for the duration of any package brought. Also included in the package are free games and internet access.

Card machines are located around the hospital, as well as Hospedia Representatives visiting wards daily to assist with any problems or to help purchase credit. They can also advise you on the best package for your stay. You can also pay by Debit or Credit card. Hospedia staff are on site Monday- Friday 9-6.30pm and Saturdays 9-2pm.

For those patients that purchase the various TV and telephone packages, outward bound calls to certain numbers are free. 

Incoming calls to the patient bedside are charged at 0.50p per minute from a BT landline. When dialling in, callers are advised of charges for this service prior to calls being connected.  This is a nationally agreed tariff and not something that is set locally. The Trust receives no income from this service.
