Performance in Initiating and delivering research
The Government wishes to see a dramatic and sustained improvement in the performance of providers of NHS services in initiating and delivering clinical research. The aim is to increase the number of patients who have the opportunity to participate in research and to enhance the nation’s attractiveness as a host for research.
- The Department of Health now requires that NHS providers publish information on a quarterly basis regarding:
- Whether the ‘70 Day Benchmark’ from receipt of a valid research application to the recruitment of the first patient has been met.
Whether recruitment targets for studies have been met within the time frame agreed with the sponsor.
In line with NIHR guidance, the quarterly reports for Mid Essex Hospital Services NHS Trust (prior to 1 April 2020) and Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust can be accessed here.
