Training programme

Mid and South Essex Healthcare Libraries offer a free training programme to help you access electronic resources and search effectively for evidence to support your patient care, CPD, and studies. Critical Appraisal training helps you decide if the research you read is valid and  trustworthy before you apply results to your patients. We can also help you write reflectively.

All training courses, including Critical Appraisal,  can be run for specific groups and departments, either in the CAL Suite or in your own Department or training room. Please contact us to discuss your requirements and arrange a time.

CAL Suite

This is located upstairs and has a study area, networked PCs and access to four non-networked PCs for personal use - ideal if you want to check your email or Facebook during your lunch break! There is 24 hour access for staff to the CAL suite and study area for MEHT staff.

Literature search requests

We will carry out an evidence search on your behalf to inform patient care, research and service development. This service is for library members, but not available to students on placement. To request a literature search please contact staff. Please give as much information as possible about your search topic, including the reason for the search, the age group involved (if applicable), and how many years you would like the search to cover.

Enquiries Service

We provide timely answers to any healthcare information-related questions for all staff members. Please just ask one of our team and they will get back to you with an answer as quickly as possible.
